After evaluating the potential negative impact of the canal project, it was confirmed that the area's residents would not be negatively affected by the project in any way.

The project cost is expected to be around $9.256 billion. The Turkish government expects the canal to generate about $8 billion in revenue annually due to transit service fees.

According to the structural plan, the rural, suburban line connecting the north and centre-west of Istanbul will be part of a new city of 7.5 million square meters when the project is completed, which will bring about significant changes in the town, and it will also be surrounded by 450 million square meters of beaches and dams on both sides: canal, and 147 million square meters of parks and gardens.

The preparation phase before construction will take a year and a half, and it is expected that the canal will take about five and a half years, and it is planned to complete the project within seven years, i.e. in 2027.

The plan of the new Istanbul Canal indicates that its path will start from the line separating Lake Kucukcekmece from the Sea of Marmara. It will proceed towards the Sazlidere Dam through the regions of Şahintepe and Altinşehir to the Black Sea from the east of Lake Turkos and near Durusu, and the canal area will be located within the borders of the municipalities of Basak Sehir, Arnavutkoy, Kucukcekmece, and Avcilar.
